Tunes and Tales from Connecticut

On Saturday, September 27th at 2:00 pm at Case Memorial Library, singer-songwriter Kent Besocke will deliver a one-of-a-kind performance entitled “Tunes and Tales from Connecticut.” The musical program weaves together our state's rich tapestry of history, folklore, and legend.
Kent engages his audience with well-crafted stories and songs that explore the lives of intriguing characters, significant historical events, unexplained phenomena, and the myths that have shaped Connecticut's identity.
Kent also delves into the story beneath the story: it matters not whether the tale is of a renowned hero or an all-but-forgotten figure, whether it is a verifiable eerie encounter or merely a whispered legend, whether it is a well-known place or one no longer remembered by history, Kent uncovers the secrets lying just beneath the surface.
The musical instruments Kent plays are as varied as his stories and songs; thus, each different instrument reflects the different moods of his narratives: the acoustic guitar, the 5-string banjo, and the mandolin each add to the atmosphere created.
Whether you were born and bred in Connecticut or whether you have just newly arrived, you will not want to miss this chance to explore Connecticut through the lens of song and storytelling. Join us for a special hour that pays tribute to the unique spirit of Connecticut.
