Vaughan Dumas, chief of the Orange Volunteer Fire Department, right, accepts a $1,000 check from the Regional Water Authority. “This is our way of giving back what we can,” said Nicoletta Blevins, government and community relations manager for the Regional Water Authority. “Your department protects us and this is one way we say thanks.” Dumas said the money would be used to purchase two firefighter helmets, which cost about $500 each. He added that a full set of gear for each firefighter costs about $6,000.
