Craft Workshop: Gel Plate Monoprinting

Thursday, March 5, 2 p.m.

Saturday, March 7, 2 p.m.

Create your own gelli plate prints at this hands-on workshop guided by Librarian Rebecca Harlow. Gel plate printing is a beginner-friendly monoprinting technique that uses a reusable gel plate, water-based paints, and textures to create unique, one-of-a-kind prints on paper without a printing press. For adults and teens in grades 7 through 12

American Mah Jongg Club

Fridays at 10:30 a.m.

American Mah Jongg club for players of all skill levels. These sessions are intended for players who are familiar with American Mah Jongg as instruction is not provided.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own American Mah Jongg set and official Mah Jongg card. The Library also has a limited number of Mah Jongg sets and cards to use during open play.

Games are non-betting as gambling is not allowed in the library. Registration is required. Click here to register.

American Mah Jongg for Beginners

Fridays, March 6, March 13, and March 20 at 10:30 a.m.

Join us for a 4-week beginner-friendly course with instructors Debbie Farber and Leslie Giambalvo. You’ll learn everything you need to start playing this fun and social game! Attendance at all sessions is required, as each lesson builds on the last. All materials will be provided. Crochet Club

Saturday, March 7, 10 a.m.

The Hooked on the Sound (HOTS) Crochet Guild is a non-profit group of enthusiastic crocheters in New Haven county. HOTS meets monthly to share stitch successes, assist with pattern problems, education, and generally having a great time crocheting! Bring any crochet project you are working on or one you may need help with.

All skill levels are welcome. No registration is needed. Please bring your own supplies.

Mario Day Game Night

Monday, March 9, 6:30 p.m.

Join us for a game night to celebrate Mario Day (Mar 10) a little early! We plan to play Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Super Smash Bros. Please bring a Switch controller from home.

High School Volunteer Club

Earn community service hours at our high school volunteer club. Volunteers can work on special projects or train to become a volunteer shelf reader.

Registration is recommended but drop-ins are welcome if space permits.

Come for a night of pampering! We'll have some DIY projects and supplies for manicures. You'll leave feeling refreshed and beautiful! This program is for children in grades 3 through 6.

Coding for Kids and Families - Saturday Session

Saturday, March 14, 10:30 a.m.

Experiment with coding using Dash, Dot, and Cue robots! This is a Saturday session of the "come and play" hours we are hosting throughout the month of March. Registration is required as we have a limited number of robots. You will need to bring a device and download a Wonder Workshop app.

Neighborhood Forest: Earth Day Tree Giveaway

Sign your child up to receive a free tree for Earth Day 2026 through Neighborhood Forest.

Clear the Clutter: Simple Strategies for Decluttering, Recycling, and Preparing for Collection Days

Feeling overwhelmed by too much stuff, but unsure where to start or what to do with it all? In Clear the Clutter, Certified Professional Organizer Lauren Hass of Clutter Kicker shares practical, realistic strategies for letting go with confidence. You’ll learn how to make thoughtful decisions about what to keep, donate, recycle, shred, or safely dispose of without guilt or overwhelm.

This program is designed to help you create more space at home while supporting responsible recycling practices in our community and prepare for the Orange Recycling Committee's town-wide recycling event on April 11.

ABC Book Club

Are you trying to read more in the new year and need recommendations? Or do you already love talking about books? This is the book club for you! Our goal is to read something for every letter of the alphabet. The letter can match the author’s first or last name or the book's title. We will meet every couple of months to share our progress, talk books, and eat! This program requires registration and is open to students in Grades 3-6.

Sourdough Workshop: The Full Bake

Saturday, March 21, 11 a.m.

Join us for a hands-on introduction to sourdough. This workshop covers the basics of what sourdough is, how it works, and what makes it special, while walking through the process from starter to finished loaf. Participants will explore fresh, homemade sourdough through sight, touch, and smell, and learn about essential baking tools during an interactive show-and-tell. The program includes a live demonstration of stretch-and-folds, shaping, and scoring, with opportunities for attendees to try techniques themselves.

Participants will receive recipes and enough starter to bake their own sourdough.

Rebecca Harlow, MLIS, is Head of Reference and Adult Services at the Case Memorial Library. She is an American Library Association Law for Librarians trainer, she is co-chair of the Connecticut Library Association's Legislative Committee, and she has facilitated the Library's Banned Books Discussion Group since 2022.
