John Mayock and the Homesteaders to Perform at the Library
On July 25 at 2:00 PM, John Mayock and the Homesteaders will perform at Case Memorial Library. Attending this concert is the perfect way to help commemorate the United States’ 250 birthday since this band specializes in Americana Roots Rock.
But what exactly is Roots Rock? It is a subgenre of mainstream rock and roll. This unique style blends traditional rock with the richly diverse American music of our country. It ranges from folk, country, and rockabilly to bluegrass, Delta blues, and R&B. After honing their skills for more than a decade, John Mayock and the Homesteaders have truly captured the essence of Americana Roots Rock with a sound that will help us celebrate our nation.
Based in Connecticut, the group performs a mix of original music as well as favorites that everyone knows. They have earned recognition as a top act in the New England music scene – combining “the sparkle of pop with the twang of true country.”
Historically speaking, homesteaders were 19th-century pioneers who settled on and improved public land – and The Homesteaders band do exactly that, but with a twist – they take the music that has belonged to everyone in our country since its beginning and improved upon it for our enjoyment at this very special time in our history.
