August Library Events: Laser Tag, Solar Eclipse, Dye & Crafting!
Books and Barks
Thursday, August 6, 6 p.m.
Come and read to Titan, a golden retriever therapy dog! You can bring your own book or use one of ours. This is a drop-in program with no registration required. However, we will assign time slots on a first come, first served basis starting at 5:50 PM. There will be limited time slots for readers ages 4-12. Note that we will be in the Children's Room.
Teen Summer Reading Finale: After Hours Tye-Dye
Saturday, August 8, 5:15 p.m.
For rising 7th-12th graders.
Join us outside on the back lawn to create custom tie-dye apparel! Bring a white cotton shirt to tie-dye. All other supplies will be provided. Pizza will be served.
Please note this is a drop-off event. Only rising 7th-12th graders are permitted to attend.

Social Eclipse Viewing
Wednesday, August 12, 1 p.m.
Grades 3-6
What is an eclipse? How can I watch a solar eclipse safely? Listen as John Sillasen, NASA Solar System Ambassador (and NASA Partner Eclipse Ambassador), answers those questions and more! The program will include a presentation, outside time to view the partial solar eclipse, and a Q&A session. Safe viewing glasses are mandatory and will be provided.
EVERY child must have a responsible adult with them to view the partial solar eclipse. The accompanying adult is responsible for monitoring their child's glasses usage.

Minecraft: Seeds to Sustain
Saturday, August 15, 2 p.m.
Bring your own device for this Minecraft event! Manage crops and livestock within a delicate ecosystem as you learn firsthand about resource management and sustainable food systems. Presented by Arrayscape Gaming. Paid for by the Friends of the Library.

Historical Take & Bake: Wacky Cake
Pick-up begins Monday, August 17
For all ages. One kit per household.
Create a classic Wacky Cake and explore how home bakers adapted to ingredient shortages during the Great Depression.
Step into the kitchen and travel through American history! Each kit features a historical recipe from a different era, along with the dry ingredients needed to make it at home and fascinating background information that brings the recipe's story to life.
