Lois Elaine Blackman, 86, peacefully passed away on November 17, 2023, at Waterbury Hospital, where she received kind care. A lifelong resident of Orange, Lois, the youngest of three siblings, grew up surrounded by love. Predeceased by her brothers Richard and Johnny, she dedicated years of service

The Orange Economic Development Corporation (OEDC) presented the Orange Volunteer Fire Department (OVFD) a donation in the amount of $3,750 at the OEDC’s December 14th Executive Committee meeting. The funds are proceeds from the OEDC’s annual golf tournament held in September.


Vincent P. Schmidt of Orange, CT peacefully entered eternal rest on December 15, 2023, at Milford Hospital, the place of his birth on Christmas Day in 1944. Born to Marcella (LaMarsh) and Cornelius Schmidt of West River St in Milford, CT he was the second of five boys. Vinny enlisted in the US Army

The 8th grade Lady Orange basketball team won the 2023 Ulbrich Boys & Girls Club Christmas Tournament played in Wallingford over the holiday break. The team went 4-0 with wins over Berlin, Milford, East Haven and Cromwell.

John P. Huber of Cheshire, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. John, the son of Carl J. Huber and Elizabeth (Crowley) Huber, was born on July 22, 1945. John grew up in Orange, Connecticut, where he had an idyllic childhood.

Doris Evelyn (Walters) Bazley, 93, of Naples, FL passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 surrounded by her family.Doris was born July 15, 1930. After graduating from Shelton High School, she attended Stone Academy. Doris married William J. Bazley, Sr. on October 18, 1952.


The Swearing-In Ceremony of newly elected Town Officials was held on Friday November 17th at High Plains Community Center. It was the 10th Inauguration of First Selectman James M. Zeoli who will be serving his nineteenth and twentieth years as First Selectmen of The Town of Orange.


Amity performing arts students had the chance to rub shoulders with a bit of Broadway glamor recently, when Erika Henningsen and Kyle Selig – both actors from the original cast of Mean Girls the Musical - visited the school to present a workshop in the school’s Black Box Theater.
