Nominations for Living Treasure

Nominations are being accepted through March 1, 2023, for the 2023 Living Treasure Awards.  The three individuals chosen will be honored at the Living Treasure Award ceremony on May 18, 2023, from 5-8pm in the High Plains Community Center in Orange.  Forms can be found in the Senior Center office.

Introduction to PC

Josh will teach an introduction class on Personal Computers.  The class will meet on Wednesdays, March 1—March 22 from 5-7:00pm.  A fee of $20 is required.  Come by the office to register.  Call 203-891-4784 with questions.

AARP Driving

AARP Driving Course will be offered on the first Thursday, March 2 from 9-1:00pm.  Call the office to register (203) 891-4784.

Arts & Crafts

Join us for a fun-filled class project on Monday, March 6 at 12:00pm.  Pre-registration is required.  Call 203-891-4784 to sign up.

St. Patrick’s Day Cabaret with Tom Callinan

Join us on Wednesday, March 8 when Tom Callinan performs his St. Patrick’s Day show.  Call to reserve a seat.  Coffee and dessert at 1:30pm, Tom Callinan from 2-3:00pm.

NEW CLASS:  Drumming

Join us on Tuesdays starting March 9 with Dennis.  Limit 10 participants for this fun and aerobic activity.

Hop the Bus

Hop on the bus to the New Haven Symphony Orchestra performances at Lyman Center at SCSU.  The bus is free, you just must buy your tickets to the show.  Next trip is March 10; Miller Conducts Schumann & Beethoven.  Bus departs at 6:45pm.  Call the office to register (203) 891-4788.

You Picked it:  Movie of the Month

Join us March 10, at 1:00pm for “Waking Ned Devine.”  When a lottery winner dies of shock, his fellow townsfolk attempt to claim the money.  Popcorn and soda will be served.  Call to reserve a seat.

Movie of the Month

Join us on March 17 at 1:00pm for “The Banshees of Inisherin.”  Two lifelong friends find themselves at an impasse when one abruptly ends their relationship, with alarming consequences for both.  Popcorn and soda will be served.  Call to reserve a seat.

Documentary & Discussion

Join us March 24 at 1:00pm for “What the Health.”  A filmmaker uncovers the correlation between diet and disease and the collusion between government, food industry and big pharma.  Discussion afterwards.  Popcorn and soda will be served.  Call to reserve a seat.

Book Club

The book club normally meets the last Friday of the month at 2:00pm.  The next meeting will be in the senior lounge on March 31.  March’s book is “Magic Mountain” by Thomas Mann.

NEW CLASS:  Zentangle

Join us on the last Friday of the month, March 31 for our exciting new & free class:  Zentangle.  Zentangle is a relaxing and meditative art form that helps with focus and concentration.  This class will be led by Certified Zentangle teacher Rosemarie Main.  Limit 15 people.  Call the Senior Center at 203-891-4788 to reserve a seat.

Hot Lunch Program

Lunch is offered Monday through Friday, 11:30am – 12:00pm.  No meals on Saturday, or Sunday.  A $3.00 donation is accepted for persons 60+.  Call Ellen at (203) 891-4765 to register.

Legal Clinic

The Law office of Floman DePaola has merged with Wiley, Etter, & Doyon, but they are still available the first Wednesday of each month for a free legal clinic.  Some things they will be able to help you with, while others may require an office visit and fee.  To schedule a phone appointment, call 203-891-4784.

Griffin Hospital/Parish Nurses Blood Pressure Check

Maggie from Griffin Hospital will be here the last Friday of the month from 10:30-12:00pm to take your blood pressure.  Be sure to stop by for this free clinic.
