Mark Moyher

I am a financial professional currently serving as Vice President and Head Trader for a local investment management and financial advisory firm. Orange has been my home for over 25 years. My educational background includes studying Accounting and Finance at Fairfield University and I hold several financial certifications and licenses.

Together with my wife Ilene, I have built a life of involvement in this community. Volunteering as a member and officer of community organizations has inspired me to seek the role of First Selectman. It is time to move Orange forward. During the 2021 campaign while running for Tax Collector, I gained insight into our local government while meeting residents and discussing issues they care about.

As First Selectman, I will bring new energy and ideas to propel our town forward while embracing its rich history. With nearly 40 years’ experience as a financial services professional, I’ll bring my strong business acumen, professionalism, financial expertise, and enthusiasm for innovation and business development to town hall. I will focus on updating town facilities and services to move Orange forward.

I strongly believe that communicating and engaging with residents of all backgrounds and viewpoints is necessary to maximize our town culture and environment. I look forward to collaborating with the many volunteers who comprise our town committees as well as the professional staff to create the best vision for improving life and to meet the many challenges ahead.  We need to modernize town buildings and schools and maintain open lines of communication and transparency from the First Selectman’s office. It’s well past time that Orange revamps the town website, adds current content and starts using popular digital communications tools.

The Orange Recycling Committee provided a terrific opportunity for me to help with a cause I care deeply about – improving the environment by reducing landfill waste. In addition to serving as Secretary and Treasurer for the past five years, I have been instrumental in bringing several new recycling programs to Orange. My favorite events include working at the semi-annual Paper Shredding & Mattress Recycling event and running the recycling committee booth at the Orange Country Fair. I am proud to be one of the many volunteers in Orange who contribute their time and talents to provide a wide variety of services to events that improve our community.

It is a leader’s responsibility to publicly support those folks who enrich the lives of our residents by attending their events.  I am an active supporter of the Amity Theater Department, Orange Players, and Jamie Hulley Arts Foundation; the OVFD Carnival and Chamber of Commerce Fun Day; the Rotary, Lions, and Knights of Pythias organizations; the annual Kristallnacht Commemoration at Congregation Or Shalom; and the Orange Democratic Town Committee. Orange has arts and cultural programs that tireless volunteers bring to life yet get little support from the town’s current leadership. Two such entities are the Orange Players, who have brought live theater to Orange for almost 50 years, and the Orange Historical Society, who collects artifacts that preserve our town’s storied history. I will make sure they have the appreciation and cooperation they deserve.
